Meet Our Team
NANCY ALARCON
DIRECTOR
I have 12 years of experience in childcare, and I am currently the Director of Joy Learning Center. I hold a Child Development Certificate (CDC), and I am pursuing an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. My passion is to create a safe and stimulating environment where children can fully develop, contributing to the formation of future generations.
ALEJANDRA ALARCON
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/FOCUS & NM PRE-K ADMINISTRATOR
I have 9 years of experience in childcare and development. I hold a Child Development Certificate (CDC), and I am currently pursuing an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. I serve as the Administrator for the FOCUS and NM PreK programs and as an Assistant Director, supporting program management and ensuring high-quality services for children and families..
MIRELLA MARTINEZ
PRE-K LEAD TEACHER
I have 4 years of experience in childcare working with children of different ages. I am currently in the PreK 4 classroom within the New Mexico PreK program. I hold a Child Development Certificate (CDC) and I am pursuing an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. In addition, I am certified as a Medical Assistant and CNA, which strengthens my preparation to support the health and development of children.
VANESSA HERNANDEZ
EARLY PRE-K LEAD TEACHER
I have 3 years of experience working with young children. I am currently part of the New Mexico PreK program in the Early PreK classroom for 3-year-olds. I hold a Child Development Certificate (CDC) and I am pursuing an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. In addition, I have a bachelor’s degree in Pedagogy from Mexico, which strengthens my academic and practical preparation in the field of education.
ABIGAIL ORTIZ
PRE-K ASSISTANT TEACHER
I have 4 years of experience in childcare with children of all ages. I am currently a PreK Assistant Teacher, close to completing my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, and I also support the administration and management of documentation. My passion is to continue learning and strengthen my knowledge of child development in order to enrich my work with children.
VALERIA VELAZQUEZ
TODDLER TEACHER
I have 2 and a half years of experience in childcare administration and 6 months of classroom experience with toddlers, currently working with 2-year-old children. I am in the process of completing my Child Development Certificate (CDC) and I hold a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from Mexico, which provides me with an integral foundation to support children’s development and well-being.
CRISTINA ALCALA
INFANT TEACHER
I have 4 years of experience working with young children and I am currently pursuing my Child Development Certificate (CDC), which has allowed me to expand my knowledge of child development. At present, I work with infants, a role that I am deeply passionate about and that strengthens my commitment to providing quality care and an environment that supports their overall growth.
LAURA VALERIO
INFANT TEACHER
I have 3 years of experience in early childhood care, working with children of different ages. I am currently part of the infant’s classroom and in the process of obtaining my associate degree in early childhood education. This work is my passion, and it inspires me to continue learning and strengthening my knowledge to provide the best care and support for children’s development.
NAYELI VARELA
FLOATER
I have 2 years of experience in early childhood care, and I am currently studying child development. As a Floater, I support different classrooms and work with children of various ages, which I truly enjoy. I am also pursuing nursing studies, which complement my preparation to provide comprehensive and quality care.
LOLITA ALARCON
COOK
I have 3 years of experience at Joy Learning Center as a cook, where I enjoy preparing healthy and nutritious meals for children every day. I believe that proper nutrition is essential for their growth and development. I hold a Food Handler certification and the required training, ensuring safe and high-quality meals.
